Deoband Intervenes: Muslims can do yoga – Indian Express

After restlessly debating yoga for a week, Darul Uloom Deoband finally said on Thursday that it has no problem with this “form of exercise” at public functions, schools and colleges.

   “We consider yoga as a form of physical exercise and accepted it. While offering namaz, we do several physical movements which also fall in the category of yoga. It has nothing to do with religion and so we don’t object to it at any level,” Ashraf Usmani, public relations officer of Darul Uloom told Mail Today.

Delhi Law Minister Tomar arrested in fake degree case

Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested by the police this morning. Police sources said a First Information Report was registered against Mr Tomar last night on charges of cheating, forgery and conspiracy. He faces allegations that he faked his law degree.

Maggi Scare: How Does Lead Get Into Food?

Nestlé India, maker of Maggi 2-Minute Noodles, is embroiled in a food-safety scare after inspectors filed a criminal complaint alleging the product contained dangerously high levels of lead.

The company said Monday that its own tests found the noodles safe to eat. That didn’t stop Delhi from banning the sale of the noodles on Wednesday saying the state’s tests found lead in some samples of the popular snack.

After Maggi, other noodles in soup too; Tamil Nadu bans 3 more brands


Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a ban on Maggi noodles in the state on Friday.

In an informal engagement with media persons, Chouhan said Nestle’s use of Mono Sodium Glucomate (MSG) in Maggi without disclosing it, which is reason enough for a ban.

Other than Nestle’s Maggi, two states have banned other top brands of instant noodles after samples were found to contain unsafe levels of lead and taste enhancer monosodium glutamate (MSG).

While the Tamil Nadu government banned Wai Wai Xpress Noodles, Reliance Select Instant Noodles and Smith and Jones Chicken Masala Noodles for 3 months, the Gujarat government banned Leong Hakka noodles brand for 30 days after samples failed laboratory tests.
