Two Sikh Men Remove Their Turbans To Save Four From Drowning In Sangrur, Punjab

A turban is an important symbol of Sikhism and it is not very easy to remove one. In a heroic attempt, 2 Sikh men – Inderpal Singh and Kanwaljit Singh used their turbans to save the life of five people from drowning.

This happened last Saturday when people from Sullar Gharat Village in Punjab had come for Ganpati immersion at a nearby canal. A group of boys got inside the river and slipped while immersing the idols because of high current. They immediately started shouting for help.

Four young boys had visited a canal near Sunam village in Punjab, to immerse a Ganesha idol. A sudden torrent of water forced them to lose their balance and fall in.

British WW2 veterans given France’s Légion d’honneur

Fifteen British veterans of World War Two have been awarded France’s highest honour for the role they played in the country’s liberation from the Nazis.

The men were given the Légion d’honneur by French Veterans Minister Jean-Marc Todeschini at a ceremony at the French ambassador’s residence in London.

He said his country would never forget their bravery.

One of the veterans, Thomas Hassel, told the BBC he felt “tremendous pride” on behalf of all those who fought.

Many of the men took part in the D-Day landings in June 1944, a crucial turning point in the war.

The Rs 2.56 lakh Renault Kwid Review

Renault has launched the Kwid car at Rs 2.56 lakh (ex-Delhi) for the base variant. The Kwid will be offered in six variants with the top spec RXT (O) trim costing Rs 3.53 lakh. The Kwid hosts a few first-in-segment features such as a touchscreen infotainment with sat nav and a fully digital instrument cluster. A driver’s side airbag is offered as optional on the top-end RXT (O) trim. An array of personalisation packs and accessories are offered too. The Kwid, which will take on the likes of the Datsun Go, Hyundai Eon and the popular Maruti Alto 800, is seen clearly in the SUV-like exterior.

Audi and Skoda say 3.3m Cars Have ‘CHEAT’ Emissions Software
