Six of the world’s most interesting liquor bottles

In an increasingly competitive liquor market, it isn’t enough to merely produce a good spirit. You’ve also got to make sure it is ‘visible’ to customers in bars, at airport duty-free outlets and at the local liquor store. And these six bottles featured here are sure to be noticed.

Highland Park 50 Year-Old Single Malt Whisky: This surely has to be among the coolest bottles ever designed to hold whisky. And, the spirit it holds is worthy of such a design. Each bottle is hand-crafted by famed Scottosh jewellery designer Maeve Gillies, and is influenced “by the sea, wild weather and the passage of time.” (Text: Team Express Foodie)

Kalashnikov Vodka: This one’s quite a riot. It’s plain vodka, Russian, we suppose, and the ‘bottle’ comes with a fancy case. Kalashnikov Ak -47 Vodka had a limited production run, but chances are, if you really want one, you could find it on the Internet. Obviously, if you are going to travel with it, you’ll have a problem at the security checkpoints. (Text: Team Express Foodie)

Jewel of Russia ‘Ultra’ Vodka: It’s probably just decent vodka, but the bottle just aces it. This limited edition line is adorned with hand-painted Russian miniatures, and each bottle is individually signed by the artist. (Text: Team Express Foodie)

Inish Turk Beg Maiden Voyage Whisky: This beautiful, leaning bottle contains whiskey that has been produced by Ireland’s Cooley Distillery. The whiskey is matured in poiteen — illegal homemade whiskey — casks on the island of Inish Turk Beg, off Ireland. (Text: Team Express Foodie)

Crystal Head Aurora Vodka: Crystal Head’s Aurora bottle pays tribute to the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, and the bottle has an “irridescent, metallised finish”. The vodka in the skull-shaped bottle is drier and spicier than the regular Crystal Head vodka. (Text: Team Express Foodie)

Old Gold Single Malt from Sikkim Distilleries: Made by the Rangpo-based Sikkim Distilleries, the Old Gold Single Malt whisky’s container seems to be inspired by Nepal’s Khukhri Rum, but it’s gorgeous all the same. And, a bottle that you’ll keep long after you’ve finished its contents. (Text: Team Express Foodie) -
